The Lilycove harbor is generally a quiet place. Unlike the hubbub of Slateport's dock area, most of the boats that find their way here are either small fishing vessels or large ships meant to transport goods and merchandise. The large cruise-like ships that usually dock nearly are nowhere to be seen - which isn't all that surprising considering the recent war.

This morning, however, a string of colorful curses pierces through the quiet lull of the lapping waves, the annoyed voice carrying through the air with a distinct growl to it.

"They can shove their Christmas cheer right up their-" Skyler's furious mumble is abruptly cut off at the sight of a scarred, eye-patched Lopunny carrying a bag full of Christmas ornaments into the ship. "There's more?!"

The captain groans and leans against the mast, brows furrowing at the ridiculously colorful strings of tinsel that decorate the tall wooden pole - all the way up to the crow's nest. 'The whole ship looks like a damn carnival. All that's missing is a dancing Delibird and it'd be postcard perfect.'

The League had contacted her some days ago, talking about some sort of effort to help raise Hoenn's spirits after the war - or something like that. If Skyler had known then that it'd turn her ship into a damned Christmas tree, she would've immediately refused.

"Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you too," The oh-so-jolly façade of a cheery delivery boy had become second nature to the teen. He could smile, nod, and throw around a few holiday themed compliments to even the most belligerent customers now. After the neatly decorated door had swung close, and he was left face-to-face with a printed out picture of Arceus dangling in the middle of a wreath, Mason finally released the sigh he had held back for the past hour. 'Fuck Christmas.'

Spinning himself around, the brunette began sauntering down the busy streets of Lilycove city, his lips settled into a small frown. Lights decorated the streets of the war-wrecked city and thick feeling of hope could felt throughout the air. For a moment, he could feel himself almost lightening up to the sounds of Christmas cheer - that is until a slew of curse words sliced through the peppermint themed air. Eyebrows raised, Mason found himself following the source of this abrupt growl, curious of it's origins.

It didn't take too long for him to reach the brightly lit ship. With the way it was decorated, it almost looked like some kind of portable Christmas tree. The whole thing left him so shocked that he couldn't help but stand right beside it, hands on hip, and with a look that screamed 'lost in thought' splashed across his face.'

The only words that left his lips were an audible "What the fuck."

"I know, right? It's a mess." The voice comes from the portable Christmas tree ship, soon followed by a head of wild blonde curls as Skyler props herself on the railing of the war ship, looking frazzled and annoyed. The way she runs her hand through her hair makes it even messier - it looks almost as if the hair is mirroring its owner's mood.

Silver eyes follow the chaotic maelstrom of movement within the deck of the ship, several pokémon running and flying around, doing their best to decorate the ship as per the captain's orders. When the woman looks down at the docks, finding the courier there, a wry smile curls her lips. "Come to see the show, cute guy?"

The sound of something heavy crashing down has Skyler widening her eyes. She abruptly turns her back on the young man down on the docks to search for the culprit. "You two! Break it off!" Some stomping can be heard as Skyler makes her way to a Gible and a Trapinch, both fighting over who gets to carry an oversized star - which is now missing one piece.

Eventually a Dragonite carries the mostly intact star up to the crow's nest so that it is precariously set in its place, shining down on them as the sunlight hits it. Crisis averted, Skyler's attention returns to the young man.

"So, are you going to help with the Christmas decorations or are you just going to stand there?" There's something to the curl of her smile that makes her wording sound like less of a question and more of a dare.

Mason's eyes fluttered up towards the irritated blonde. It took him a moment to process her words, as he was still left bemused by the overall sight of a holiday themed war ship. "Only if I'm allowed to," He quipped with a wink. The sudden switch of the flip elicited a hearty chuckle from him, as he found the entire spectacle of directing her Pokémon around refreshing.

"Aye aye Captain." With his lips curled into an amused grin, the teen accepted the sailor's invitation and boarded the brightly decorated ship. As he boarded, his eyes curiously swept the area. Despite growing up in such a ocean-centric region, Mason rarely had the opportunity to be on a ship. His only real excuse would be granted through his job, but unfortunately most deliveries that require oceanic travel are handled by his coworker instead, while he's usually tasked with deliveries to the desert.

After getting a good rundown of the area, Mason went and leaned back against the same railing she had propped herself on top of, his gaze fixated onto her. "How may I be of assistance?" A gleam of thrill flickered in his eyes. He definitely didn't regret skipping out on mistletoe matching for this.

The guy's cheeky response surprises an unrestrained laugh out of the captain, whose silver eyes glitter with amusement when she turns them to the courier again.

She doesn't hesitate before her arm stretches out in his direction for a handshake. "Skyler Dross, ship captain and treasure hunter." There's a wicked edge to the curve of her smile as she presents herself, ignoring all the Christmas chaos building up around her as she continues, unhurried. "And it seems you're my new crew members, if only temporarily. Welcome aboard the Sotally Tober."

In all honestly, at the moment the ship looks like some sort of mad carnival with pokémon flitting right and left carrying garish Christmas decorations - Skyler swipes one of the cardboard boxes from a surprised Cubchoo, unceremoniously throwing it at the amused courier. Inside there seems to be some tinsel along with a couple of wreaths. "There ya go, those are meant to go on the bow of the ship - the front part." There's a pause as Skyler furrows her brows, looking around and shouting out some orders before she grabs a box for herself.

"Come on, I'll show ya."

Mason firmly shook the captains hand before returning the introduction. “Mason Blackwood. I guess I’m what you would cal a ‘Landlubber’ “ He chuckled, “I hope that doesn’t disqualify me from the position, though.”

While his eyes mainly rested on Skylar, whose exuberance knew no bounds, he couldn’t help but occasionally gaze back at the frantic Pokémon. Their endless shuffling around the ship, floundering over how to decorate, was simply the pinnacle of entertainment for the teen.

The sudden plucking of the box from the small cubchoo instantaneously snatched back his attention. The corner of his lips curled into a fascinated grin. “Lead the way, Capt.” As he casually followed the blonde towards the bow of the ship, Mason’ brown eyes leapt from inch to inch, beholding the entirety of Sotally Tober. Unbeknownst to him, his mouth grew gaped, clearly broadcasting his wonder.
